LIMA, Ohio – The Indiana Tech women's volleyball team traveled to Lima, Ohio, on Friday evening for a contest with the Racers of Northwestern Ohio. Looking for a bounce-back victory, the Warriors found just that in the form of a 3-0 sweep, winning 25-16, 25-19, and 25-19.
In the opening set, Tech found themselves trailing early, behind 7-3. The deficit forced a response from the Warriors, which came in the form of a 5-0 run, putting Tech on top for the first time in the set. After trading a few points, an 8-1 run from Tech put them firmly in control of the set, eventually claiming it 25-16. In the second set, the hosts held control through the beginning of the set, holding a five-point 15-10 lead over the Warriors. Tech would battle back to close the set on a 15-4 run, winning the second set 25-19. The third set played out similarly to the first two, with the sides relatively even through the early stages. A late 5-1 run would give the Warriors control of the set, going on to win 25-19.
Lauren Snyder would lead the Warriors' attack with 10 kills, while
Hannah Teich would add nine.
Paige Redder served up two aces. Teich would lead the side with four blocks.
Kristin Matlack tallied 38 assists, and
Elsie McCutchan posted 20 digs.
The Warriors now sit 8-6 on the season and 2-1 in conference play. Up next, the Warriors will travel to Grand Rapids, Michigan, for contests with Cornerstone University on Friday, Sept. 19, at 7:00 p.m. and Aquinas College on Saturday, Sept. 20, at 2:00 p.m.
