SYLVANIA, Ohio – The #12 ranked Indiana Tech men's soccer team played Lourdes University on Wednesday evening in Sylvania, Ohio in a game that the Gray Wolves would stun the Warriors 3-0 after 90 minutes of play.
Tech would struggle against a tough Gray Wolves side that has been known to make things difficult for the Warriors in recent years. The match would be a physical and chippy game as anticipated, which the Warriors have grown accustomed to over the years, especially in WHAC games. The first half stats would be nearly identical, but Lourdes would be the team leading at halftime after scoring in the 25
th minute. An early second have penalty kick would put the Gray Wolves ahead by two with just over 35 minutes remaining. Shortly after, Lourdes would capitalize again, scoring a crushing third goal on the Warriors to put the game out of reach. Despite the scoreline being one sided, Tech would have a multitude of opportunities, especially in the second half, hitting the post on three occasions but unluckily not finding the back of the net.
Cuba Grant would make a couple incredible saves in goal for the Warriors to give them a fighting chance, finishing the day with five saves.
With the loss, the Warriors fall to 5-3-1 overall and 1-1-0 in WHAC play. Tech will now return home for the first time since August 26
th, as they get set to host Cornerstone University on Saturday, September 27
th at 1pm at Warrior Athletic Field.
