FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The #9 ranked Indiana Tech Women's hockey team opened their 2025-26 season with a two-game series against Eastern Michigan University. In their first ever meeting, the Warriors would take the contest 5-3 on Friday night in Canton, Michigan. Tech would follow that up with a 3-1 win at home on Saturday night to start the season 2-0.
On Friday, the Warriors would get off to a quick start with three first period goals.
Allison Greene would score the first two goals just under three minutes apart and then assist the third goal to
Halle Murray, who picked up assists on Greene's two first period goals. Green would complete her hattrick just five minutes into the second period for her fourth point of the game and giving the Warriors a 4-0 lead. Eastern Michigan would find the back of the net two times in the second to cut the deficit in half, but
Carys Wytinck would score a fifth Warrior goal before the end of the period to make it 5-2. The Eagles would add one more goal, but neither team would score in the third period as Tech finished off the game with a 5-3 win. Green and Murray both finished the game with four points for the Warriors, while Wytinck had two.
Sylvie Legault,
Hailey Terpstra, and
Payton Gilmour would each add one assist.
Rose Lennon would pick up the win in her first game in goal for the Warriors, making 20 saves.
On Saturday,
Allison Greene and
Halle Murray would pick up right where they left off Friday night. They would each record a goal and assist in the first period of game two in the series, helping Tech get off to a 2-0 start. Eastern Michigan would pull within one by the first intermission. In the second period, the Warriors would capitalize on the power play, with
Daphnee Gagnon scoring her first goal in the Orange & Black to make it 3-1.
Carys Wytinck would pick up an assist on Gagnon's goal, making it her third assist of the game.
Ashley Episcopo also picked up an assist on the goal. For the second day in a row, neither team would score in the third period as the Warriors won the game 3-1 and made it a sweep over the Eagles.
Ashtyn Berthiaume played in goal for Tech, making 17 saves and earning the win.
The Warriors start the season at 2-0 overall and in CCWHA play as both games were conference games. Tech will be back in action next weekend for a two-game series against Grand Valley State University. The first game will be played at the PSM Icehouse in Fort Wayne, Indiana on Friday, October 3
rd at 4:30pm during Indiana Tech's homecoming weekend. Game two will be on the road Saturday, October 4
th in Hudsonville, Michigan at 4:30pm.
