SYLVANIA, Ohio – The Tech women's volleyball team traveled to Sylvania, Ohio, on Wednesday evening, where they opened conference play with a match against the Lourdes University Gray Wolves. On the road, the Orange and Black took care of business, downing the hosts in three straight sets 25-14, 25-14, and 25-11.
Tech would have a fast start in the first set, tearing off on a 7-0 run to grab the lead. Once the Warriors established control in the set, there was no way back for the Gray Wolves as Tech would win 25-14. Again, in the second set, the Warriors would grab control early. In the early stages of the set, a 4-0 run from the Orange and Black, which highlighted kills from
Hannah Teich and
Lauren Paska, would put Tech up 13-6. From there, the Warriors would cruise to the second set victory with a score of 25-14. In the third set, the sides stayed level through the opening stages as the score was level 5-5. Tech would split the game open, tallying 10 straight points to take a 17-6 lead. Tech didn't let up as they followed the scoring outburst with another run, this time 6-0, as they would settle for a 25-11 win.
Hannah Teich led the Warriors' attack with 12 kills, while also adding two blocks.
Kassidy Boener posted a team-high four service aces. Matching Teich's block tally of two was
Kristin Matlack, while also adding 28 assists.
Paige Redder led the side in digs with 11.
The Warriors now sit at 4-5 on the season and open conference play at 1-0. The Warriors return to action for their first home contest of the season on Friday evening, hosting Milligan University at 6:00 p.m. in what will be their first game of the annual Liz Lykowski Memorial Tournament.
