FORT WAYNE, IND. – The Indiana Tech Warriors were back in action at the Schaefer Center Tuesday night, hosting the Racers of the University of Northwestern Ohio. After overpowering the Racers 80–59 in their previous matchup, Tech looked to replicate that success — and did so in dominant fashion with a 77–45 victory. Indiana Tech entered the matchup 11–1 in conference play, while the Racers came in at 6–6.
After winning the opening tip, Tech struggled to find an early rhythm offensively. Multiple shot attempts fell short before Ryan Moorer was fouled and knocked down 1-of-2 free throws to put the Warriors on the board. Despite the slow start, Indiana Tech maintained composure and closed the quarter with a 13–12 lead, keeping the Racers within reach but setting the tone defensively.
In the second period the Warriors found their offensive rhythm, moving the ball efficiently and stretching the floor. Durbin Thomas led the charge, scoring six points in the first quarter, while Tech's defensive pressure forced turnovers and limited Northwestern Ohio's scoring opportunities. Indiana Tech outscored the Racers 19–12 in the second quarter, taking a 32–24 lead into halftime and firmly shifting momentum in their favor.
In the third the Warriors showed no signs of slowing down. Tech tightened up defensively, holding the Racers to just six points in the third quarter. Avery Collins lead the team with 7 rebounds helping the team capitalized on second-chance opportunities, turning defense into offense. Indiana Tech outscored Northwestern Ohio 17–6 in the third, extending the lead and putting the game out of reach.
The Warriors saved their best for last, delivering a 28-point fourth quarter. Taylor Covington led the team with 17 points on the night, with five coming in the final quarter, helping the team shoot an impressive 75% from the field in the 4th. Indiana Tech also shared the ball exceptionally well with Ryan Moorer leading the team with 6 assists, guiding the team to finish with 21 assists overall, and stretching the lead to as many as 34 points late in the quarter.
With the home win, Tech stands at an impressive 12-1 in the conference and 15-4 overall. The teams next matchup takes place at home against Rochester Christian, Saturday, January 24th at 1pm in the Schaefer Center.
