FORT WAYNE, Ind. The No.15 Indiana Tech women's hockey team delivered a dominant weekend performance, earning a two-game sweep over Lake Superior State University at home and continuing to build momentum in conference play.
Indiana Tech set the tone early in the series, exploding for four first-period goals in the opener to take full control. Sylvie Legault opened the scoring just 2:45 into the game with an unassisted goal, followed shortly by Halle Murray, who scored at 3:34 off an assist from Avery Johnson. The Warriors continued their offensive surge as Carys Wytinck extended the lead at 7:34, finishing a play set up by Kaitlyn Broeckel, before Allison Greene capped the first-period scoring with an unassisted goal at 13:04. Lake Superior State managed one goal in the second period, but Indiana Tech's defense and goaltending held firm to secure the 4–1 victory.
In game two at home the Warriors carried that momentum, once again striking late in the first period. Payton Gilmour broke the scoreless tie with an unassisted goal, and Haylee Grenier followed with a clutch score with one second remaining in the period off a feed from Sylvie Legault, giving Indiana Tech a 2–0 lead. The Warriors continued to build their advantage in the second period when Hailey Terpstra added an unassisted goal. After the Lakers responded, Indiana Tech answered in the third period behind goals from Kaitlyn Broeckel and Halle Murray, with Murray's goal assisted by Allison Greene and Payton Gilmour. Despite a late push from Lake Superior State, the Warriors remained composed and closed out the 5–3 win, completing the weekend sweep.
Across the two games, Indiana Tech scored nine goals, showcasing depth across all lines and strong special teams play. The Warriors' ability to strike early, respond to pressure, and protect home ice proved to be the difference as they continue to build confidence heading into the remainder of the season.
The Warriors will next travel to Adrian, Michigan, for a CCWHA matchup against the Adrian Bulldogs, before returning home to Fort Wayne on January 30th for Senior Night, where they will honor and celebrate their three seniors on the ice.
