Box Score 2 FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Indiana Tech women's hockey team rebounded in a big way on Friday night, earning a 4–2 victory over #7 ranked Adrian College at home to split the two-game series after dropping Game 1 on the road.
On Thursday night, Indiana Tech opened the series in Adrian, Michigan, but fell 5–1 as the Bulldogs capitalized on special teams and sustained offensive pressure. Adrian scored once in the first period and added three goals in the second, including two power-play tallies, to take control of the game.
Carys Wytinck provided the lone goal for the Warriors midway through the second period, finishing a play assisted by Kaitlyn Broeckel and Daphnée Gagnon. Goaltender Ashtyn Berthiaume turned aside 32 shots in a full 60-minute effort despite facing 37 total attempts. Adrian went 2-for-3 on the power play, while Indiana Tech was held scoreless on two opportunities.
On Friday night, Indiana Tech answered with its most complete performance of the series in front of the home crowd, scoring three unanswered goals after trailing 1-2 to secure the 4-2 win.
After Adrian opened the scoring late in the first period, Sylvie Legault responded just 46 seconds later with her first goal of the season, assisted by Payton Gilmour and Hailey Terpstra, to even the game at 1–1 heading into the first intermission.
Adrian briefly regained the lead early in the second period, but the Warriors took over from there. Allison Greene tied the game at 2–2 midway through the period, finishing a play from Ella Pell and Halle Murray. Indiana Tech then took its first lead of the night at 18:28 when Murray scored off assists from Gilmour and Legault. Kaitlyn Broeckel sealed the victory with a third-period goal at 9:56, extending the Warriors' lead to 4–2. Rose Lennon picked up the win in goal, making 21 saves.
Seniors Allison Greene, Hailey Terpstra, and Avery Johnson were honored prior to the game and played key roles in helping Indiana Tech secure the senior night victory in their final home appearance. The Warriors will hit the road next week to face Penn State as they look to close out the regular season with two wins.
