SOUTHFIELD, Mich. –
Jaxson Fugate scored a career-high 40 points, but it was Lawrence Tech who scored the 86-76 victory over 12
th-ranked Indiana Tech on Wednesday.
Lawrence Tech led 18-6 six minutes into the game. With Lawrence Tech ahead 28-21, Indiana Tech used a 5-0 run to cut the lead to 28-26. The Blue Devils responded with back-to-back threes to extend their advantage back to eight at 34-26. Lawrence Tech led 44-37 at the half.
The Blue Devils extended their lead to 17 at 58-41 to open the second half. Indiana Tech cut the deficit to nine on several occasions, but every time, Lawrence Tech had an answer.
Indiana Tech cut the Blue Devil advantage to eight at 78-70 with 4:08 remaining, but the Warriors never got any closer as Lawrence Tech secured the 86-76 upset victory.
Jaxson Fugate led Indiana Tech with a career-high 40 points on 13-20 FG, 3-5 3PT, and 11-12 FT.
Evan Haroldson was the other Warrior in double-figures, scoring a career-high 16 points off the bench.
The difference in the game came from behind the arc as well as in the paint. Lawrence Tech shot 16-37 from three and outrebounded Indiana Tech 45-25.
The Warriors fall to 16-4 overall and 12-3 in WHAC play. The Warriors return home to the Schaefer Center for Alumni Day on Saturday against Defiance.
