FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The 12
th-ranked Indiana Tech men's basketball team fell to Defiance 78-75 in their first home loss of the season on Saturday.
Defiance led 23-15 halfway through the first half. Defiance led by as many as nine in the first half and took a 39-35 lead into halftime.
Indiana Tech took a 45-44 lead four minutes into the second half, but Defiance fought right back. The Yellow Jackets took a 55-49 lead with 13 minutes to play.
Indiana Tech answered back, tying the game at 61-61 with 8:20 remaining. The Warriors led 67-66 with 5:30 left, but three free throws gave Defiance the lead at 69-67.
A layup and a pair of free throws after a Flagrant 1 put Indiana Tech ahead 73-69, but Defiance answered with a 7-0 run to swing the lead back in their favor at 77-73.
A layup by the Warriors cut the lead to two at 77-75. Defiance split a pair of free throws with 22 seconds to go, but the game tying three was missed as Defiance secured the 78-75 upset victory.
Indiana Tech was led by
Blake Davison who had 21 points.
Jaxson Fugate added another double-double with 17 points and 13 rebounds, and the sophomore also added five blocks.
Logan Beaston had 13 points, and
Steele Brasfield added 11.
The Warriors fall to 16-5 overall and 12-4 in WHAC play. Indiana Tech returns to action on Wednesday at Cleary.
