No. 12 Warriors Fall to Cleary in Double Overtime

LANSING, Mich. – The 12th-ranked Indiana Tech men's basketball team fell to Cleary 92-87 in double overtime on Wednesday.
 
Cleary opened the game on a 20-7 run. The lead grew to as many as 14, but the Warriors fought back to bring it within three. Cleary led 36-30 at the half.
 
Cleary maintained the lead until Indiana Tech managed to tie the game at 44-44. Cleary extended the lead back to five at 51-46.
 
Indiana Tech tied the game once more at 58-58 with six minutes to go. The Warriors took their first lead of the second half at 62-60.
 
The teams traded baskets until the score was tied at 66-66. A layup by Blake Davison made it 68-66, but two Cleary free throws tied the game at 68-68, which would be the score at the end of regulation.
 
A three-point play by Eric Hobson to open overtime put Indiana Tech ahead 71-68. Cleary tied the score at 74-74 and took a 77-75 lead with 1:36 remaining. A steal and a layup put Cleary ahead 79-75 with 40 seconds left.
 
Steele Brasfield connected on a pair of free throws to make it 79-77. Cleary hit a pair of free throws of their own to make it 81-77, but a quick layup by Jaxson Fugate made it 81-79. Cleary missed two free throws, and Blake Davison hit a layup on the other end to tie the game at 81-81 to send the game to double overtime.
 
Indiana Tech led 86-83 early in the second overtime, but a 5-0 Cleary run made it 88-86. Indiana Tech missed the game tying shot, and Cleary connected on a pair of free throws to make it 90-86. Cleary would go on to win 92-87, handing Indiana Tech their third straight loss.
 
Jaxson Fugate, Blake Davison, and Logan Beaston all recorded double doubles. Jaxson Fugate led the Warriors with 28 points and 11 rebounds. Blake Davison had 23 points and 14 rebounds, and Logan Beaston added 11 points and 15 rebounds.
 
Indiana Tech falls to 16-6 overall and 12-5 in WHAC play. The Warriors look to get back on track on Saturday at Michigan-Dearborn.
