(RV) Indiana Tech Drops a Pair of Games to Conclude Opening Weekend

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – The Indiana Tech softball team dropped a pair of games to conclude their opening weekend, falling 4-2 to (RV) Campbellsville and 7-2 to #7 Cumberlands.
 
Indiana Tech scored first against Campbellsville. In the bottom of the third, Alyssa Harvey reached on a bunt and then proceeded to steal second and third. Harvey would score on an RBI bunt single by Kiersten Delaney, putting the Warriors ahead 1-0. Carlye Walter drew a bases loaded walk to put Tech ahead 2-0.
 
Mackenzie Arroyo opened the game with five scoreless innings, but Campbellsville scored a run in the sixth to make it 2-1. The score remained 2-1 heading into the seventh inning.
 
The Tigers opened the seventh with a single and a hit by pitch. Indiana Tech then made a pitching change. After back-to-back outs, a pinch-hit RBI double scored both runners and gave Campbellsville a 3-2 lead. Another run would come around to score on a pair of errors to give the Tigers a 4-2 edge.
 
Alyssa Fox and Avery Kidwell both singled in the bottom of the seventh, but the pair were stranded at second and third as Campbellsville held on to win 4-2.
 
Six different Warriors had a hit in the game. Alyssa Harvey had a pair of stolen bases.
 
Mackenzie Arroyo threw into the seventh inning, allowing three runs on three hits in 6+ innings of work with six strikeouts. Savannah Bravo threw the seventh, allowing an unearned run while striking out two.
 
Indiana Tech threatened with a runner on third with one out in game two, but a play at the plate kept the game scoreless. Cumberlands then used early offense to jump in front, scoring four runs in the first two innings and another in the third.
 
Cumberlands scored two more runs in the fifth to make it 7-0. In the top of the seventh, singles by Alyssa Harvey and Alyssa Fox gave the Warriors two on with two out. Rhiannon McKay then followed with a two-RBI double to put Indiana Tech on the board. Cumberlands would still go on to win 7-2.
 
Alyssa Harvey had two of the five Warrior hits, including a double. Rhiannon McKay drove in both Indiana Tech runs.
 
Savannah Bravo got the start, allowing four runs on five hits in two innings of work. Mallory Stinson threw four innings in relief, allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits with four strikeouts.
 
Indiana Tech finishes the week 1-3. The Warriors return to action on Wednesday for their home opener against Huntington.
