FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The 24
th ranked Indiana Tech women's basketball team clinched their fifth straight WHAC Regular Season Championship with their 86-49 win over Madonna on Saturday.
Indiana Tech held Madonna scoreless for the first five minutes of the game. The Warriors led 18-8 at the end of the first quarter.
With Indiana Tech ahead 22-16, the Warriors used a 13-0 run to extend their lead to 33-18. Indiana Tech led 41-24 at the half.
The Warriors used a 13-0 to open the second half to take a commanding 54-24 lead. Indiana Tech led 68-35 at the end of the third.
Indiana Tech would cruise to an 86-49 win.
Indiana Tech was led by their lone senior
Taylor Covington, who recorded 23 points and 11 assists for her second double-double of the season.
Madison Vice continued her hot shooting, scoring 17 points on 6-9 from the floor and 5-8 from three.
Ryan Moorer added 13 points, seven rebounds and seven assists.
Durbin Thomas scored 12 points, and
Jaidyn Gulley grabbed a team-high 12 rebounds.
The Warriors have now won 13 games in a row. They are now 22-4 overall and 19-1 in WHAC play. Indiana Tech returns to action on Wednesday against Siena Heights for their final regular season home game.
