No. 24 Warriors Fall to Siena Heights in Overtime

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The 24th ranked Indiana Tech women's basketball team fell to Siena Heights 84-82 in overtime on Wednesday, their first loss since Dec. 30 and their first at home since Nov. 15.
 
The first quarter was tightly contested as Indiana Tech held a narrow 19-17 lead at the end of one.
 
Indiana Tech used an 8-0 run in the second to take a 27-19 lead. Siena Heights fought back to cut the Warrior lead to two at 28-26. Indiana Tech led 36-31 at the half.
 
With a 39-38 lead, Indiana Tech used a 10-0 run to take a 49-38 lead. Indiana Tech led 56-46 at the end of three.
 
The Warriors led by 14 at 62-48 early in the fourth. Siena Heights then used a 14-0 run to tie the game at 62-62 with just under four minutes to go.
 
Four straight points by Taylor Covington put Indiana Tech ahead 66-62, but a 5-0 run put Siena Heights in front 67-66. Ryan Moorer hit a pair of free throws to put Indiana Tech in the lead at 68-67, but back-to-back layups gave Siena Heights a 71-68 lead with 41 seconds left.
 
Taylor Covington hit a jumper to make it 71-70. Siena Heights went one of two at the free throw line, and Gabby Richie hit a three to put Indiana Tech ahead 73-72 with 19 seconds left.
 
Siena Heights hit a layup and two free throws to go ahead 76-73, but another Gabby Richie three sent the game to overtime tied at 76-76.
 
The teams were tied at 80-80 with a minute to go. Siena Heights hit a layup to go up 82-80, but another Taylor Covington jumper tied the game at 82-82. Siena Heights hit a layup to go ahead 84-82, and Indiana Tech missed two threes in the final ten seconds as the Saints secured an 82-80 upset win.
 
Taylor Covington led Indiana Tech with 31 points, eight rebounds, and eight assists. Ryan Moorer added 16 points and eight rebounds. Jaidyn Gulley recorded yet another double-double with 12 points and 16 rebounds. Gabby Richie scored 11 points off the bench, eight of which came in the fourth quarter/overtime.
 
Indiana Tech falls to 22-5 overall and 19-2 in WHAC play. The Warriors conclude the regular season with a road contest at Cornerstone.
