DEARBORN, MICH. - The Indiana Tech women's hockey team secured a big postseason win Friday night, defeating Michigan State 3–1 at the Dearborn Ice Skating Center to move on to the CCWHA Tournament semifinals.
The Warriors and Spartans traded first period goals in a tightly contested opening frame. Halle Murray got Indiana Tech on the board at the 7:16 mark, finishing off a setup from Sylvie Legault to give the Warriors an early 1–0 lead. Michigan State answered at 11:09 with an unassisted goal from Olivia Reineck to even the score heading into the first intermission.
Indiana Tech took control in the second period, outshooting the Spartans and capitalizing on special teams. After Michigan State was called for roughing late in the period, Allison Greene found the back of the net on the power play at 17:18. Assisted by Murray, the goal proved to be the game winner and gave Tech a 2–1 advantage heading into the third.
The Warriors continued to apply pressure in the final frame. Just one minute into the period, Greene struck again on another power play opportunity, finishing a play set up by Avery Johnson and Murray to extend the lead to 3–1.
Indiana Tech outshot Michigan State 32–22 on the night, including a dominant second period where the Warriors generated 13 shots. Greene led the way offensively with two goals, while Murray recorded one goal and two assists in a standout performance. Legault and Johnson each added assists.
In net, Ashtyn Berthiaume was solid between the pipes, stopping 21 of 22 shots to earn the win.
With the victory, Indiana Tech advances to the CCWHA Tournament semifinals, where they will face Adrian in the next round as they continue their postseason run.
