FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech women's basketball team used an offensive barrage to defeat Cornerstone 97-45 to open the WHAC Women's Basketball Tournament.
Indiana Tech opened the game on a 19-2 run. Cornerstone didn't score their second basket until the 1:33 mark of the first quarter. Indiana Tech led 25-4 after the first.
The Warriors outscored Cornerstone 25-9 in the second quarter and went into halftime with a 50-13 lead.
Indiana Tech outscored Cornerstone 25-12 in the third and 22-20 in the fourth to cruise to a 97-45 win in the WHAC Quarterfinals.
Taylor Covington led Indiana Tech with 28 points on 9-16 shooting including 6-9 from three.
Gabby Richie had 16 points and six rebounds off the bench.
Jaidyn Gulley had 11 points, six rebounds and five assists.
Ryan Moorer added 10 points.
Indiana Tech shot 57.4 percent from the field and 16-30 (53.3 percent) from three. The Warriors had 28 assists on 35 made field goals.
The Warriors held Cornerstone to 30.4 percent and 25 percent from three.
Indiana Tech moves to 24-5 on the year. The Warriors will host five seed Siena Heights on Friday at 6:00 PM.
