OAKLAND CITY, Ind. – The Indiana Tech men's volleyball team defeated Judson 3-2 before falling to Oakland City 3-0 on Friday.
The first set against Judson was tied at 17-17, but Indiana Tech closed on an 8-3 run to take the first set 25-20. Judson answered back, taking the second set 25-17.
Indiana Tech dominated early in the third set, storming out to an 18-9 lead. The Warriors took set three 25-18. Indiana Tech led 17-13 in set four, but Judson used a 10-1 run to take a 23-18 lead. Judson would take set four 25-20.
The Warriors started strong in set five and would go on to win 15-10 and take the match 3-2.
Dylan Poore led Indiana Tech with 19 kills and added 6.0 blocks.
Zack Karns was the team leader with 9.0 blocks.
Nolan Bosley had 34 assists, and
Alex Rosenow had 11 digs.
In match two, Oakland City started strong, jumping out to a 16-8 lead in set one. The Mighty Oaks would go on to win the first set 25-19.
The second set was tied at 22-22 and 23-23. Indiana Tech led 24-23, but Oakland City responded with two straight points to make it 25-24. Indiana Tech tied the set at 25-25, but Oakland City used back-to-back points to take the second set 27-25.
Indiana Tech led 18-11 in the third set, but the Mighty Oaks used a 12-4 run to take a 23-22 lead. Indiana Tech tied the set at 23-23, but back-to-back points gave Oakland City the 25-23 third set win, clinching the 3-0 sweep.
Dylan Poore led Indiana Tech with 11 kills.
Zack Karns had eight kills and 6.0 blocks.
Jesse Biedenbach had a team-high 27 assists.
(RV) Indiana Tech moves to 2-2 on the year. The Warriors returns to action on Saturday against Calumet College of St. Joseph and Saint Ambrose. Both matches will be held at Kentucky Wesleyan.
