FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Women's basketball standout
Taylor Covington has been named the Warrior of the Month for February, the Indiana Tech Athletic Department announced.
The Dublin, Ohio native was unstoppable in the month of February, helping the Warriors to a 7-1 record in the month. Covington leads the Warriors in minutes played (33.4 mpg), points (19.2 ppg), and assists (5.1 apg) this season, but posted even higher averages in February with 34.4 mpg, 21.9 ppg, and 6.3 apg. On February 14
th, Covington would record a 23 point, 11 assist double double in a win over Madonna. She would also break the 30-point threshold twice in the month, both coming against Siena Heights, scoring 31 points on February 18
th near the end of the regular season and 35 points on February 27
th in the WHAC Tournament semifinal. Part of the reason for her scoring frenzy this month was due to her increased shooting percentages. The senior guard shot 50% from the field this month and 44.1% from behind the arc. In addition to her scoring and passing, Covington recorded 4.6 rebounds per game and 2.1 steals per game displaying her abilities on both ends of the court. She led the Warriors to a fifth straight WHAC Regular Season title with a 20-2 conference record and the WHAC Tournament Championship this season as the Warriors currently sit at 26-5 overall. Covington would also gain individual recognition for her tremendous season, being named WHAC Player of the Year for the second straight season. She was also named to the WHAC First Team All-Conference, WHAC All-Academic Team, and a NAIA Scholar Athlete. Covington and the Warriors now gear up for the NAIA National Tournament where they will play hosts No. 6 seed and #18 ranked Spring Arbor University in the first round on March 13
th in Spring Arbor, Michigan.
Covington joins Kristin Matlack, Liam Arthur, Bronwyn Nel, Jonathan Kervin, and
Taylor Covington as Warriors of the Month in 2025-26. Each month during the academic year, the Indiana Tech Athletic Department honors one athlete that has excelled in their sport and in the classroom while displaying "Warrior Pride" throughout the month.
