MESA, Ariz. – The Indiana Tech men's volleyball team defeated Benedictine Mesa in four sets on Wednesday.
The two teams were tied at 13-13 to open the first set. Indiana Tech used a 5-1 run to take an 18-14 lead. Benedictine Mesa cut the lead to two on several occasions, but Indiana Tech had an answer every time and would go on to take the first set 25-22.
The second set also saw the teams tied at 13-13. The teams kept battling, and they found themselves tied at 22-22. Indiana Tech then rattled off three of the final four points to take the second set 25-23.
Benedictine Mesa jumped out to a 14-7 lead in the third set. Indiana Tech cut the lead to two at 21-19 and 23-21, but Benedictine Mesa would take the third set 25-21.
Indiana Tech took a 9-8 lead in the fourth set. The Warriors then used a 4-0 run to take a 13-8 edge. Leading 17-14, Indiana Tech used an 8-0 run to take the fourth set 25-14 and the match 3-1.
Logan Gieseke led Indiana Tech with 17 kills.
Kristian Kold had 12 kills, and
Zack Karns added 10. Karns and
Bo O'Leary each had 4.0 blocks, and Gieseke had 3.0.
Nolan Bosley had a career-high 55 assists, and
Jensen Yarosh added a team-high nine digs. Both
Owen Elliott and
Ben Rosenow had a service ace.
Indiana Tech moves to 11-6 overall. The Warriors return to action on Saturday at No. 11 Ottawa University Arizona.
