FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The 19
th-ranked Indiana Tech baseball team swept Cleary in a doubleheader on Saturday, taking game one 5-3 in seven innings and game two 14-5.
Indiana Tech took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first in game one on a two-RBI single by
Ben Morrison. An RBI single by
Ben Hammond made it 3-0.
An RBI single by
Garrett Rainey in the second put Indiana Tech ahead 4-0.
Cleary scored a run in the fifth to make it 4-1.
Jack Ferguson hit a solo home run in the bottom of the fifth to make it 5-1.
Cleary scored two runs in the seventh and brought the tying run to the plate, but Indiana Tech would secure a 5-3 victory.
Ben Hammond led Indiana Tech with two hits, including a double.
Derek Ruiz also doubled, and
Jack Ferguson homered.
Ben Morrison had two RBI to lead the team.
Noah Redmon got the start and the win, allowing two earned runs on just one hit while striking out 10.
Colton Leatherman picked up his seventh save of the season, getting the final two outs.
Cleary took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first of game two. The Cougars scored another run in the third to make it 3-0.

Jack Ferguson in the bottom of the third made it 3-1. A sacrifice fly by
Ben Hammond made it 3-2.
Cleary scored another run in the fourth to make it 4-2.
An RBI double by
Keelan Dunkle in the bottom of the fourth to make it 4-3. A bases loaded walk to
Garrett Rainey tied the game at 4-4. A two-RBI single by
Jack Ferguson gave Indiana Tech a 6-4 lead. An RBI single by
Jacoby Roberson made it 7-4, and a bases loaded walk to
Keelan Dunkle gave Tech an 8-4 edge. An RBI single by
Jorge Santana made it 9-4.
Cleary scored a run in the fifth to make it 9-5.
In the bottom of the sixth,
Derek Ruiz was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to put Tech ahead 10-5.
Ben Morrison drew a bases loaded walk to make it 11-5, and
Garrett Rainey was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to make it 12-5.
Jack Ferguson drew another bases loaded walk to make it 13-5.
Derek Ruiz delivered an RBI single in the seventh to make it 14-5, which would go on to be the final score.
Indiana Tech had nine hits and drew 17 walks in game two.
Jack Ferguson led Indiana Tech with two hits and four RBI.
Jorge Santana also had two hits.
Ben Morrison drew five walks in the contest.
Kail Baughman got the start, allowing two earned runs in three innings.
Dale Jorgensen got the win, allowing two runs in two innings.
Andrew VanOeveren threw three scoreless innings in relief, and
Gary Glaser III followed with a scoreless inning to close the game.
Indiana Tech moves to 15-7 overall and 5-1 in WHAC play. The Warriors return to action on Sunday for a doubleheader at Northwestern Ohio.
