GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Indiana Tech men's volleyball team defeated Aquinas in five sets on Saturday to secure their fifth straight win.
Indiana Tech jumped out to an 11-3 lead in the first set. Aquinas cut the lead to three at 13-10, but Indiana Tech used an 8-1 run to take a 21-11 lead. Indiana Tech would take the first set 25-13.
Aquinas took a 14-11 lead in the second set. Leading 14-12, Aquinas used a 7-2 run to extend their lead to 21-14. Aquinas took the second set 25-19.
Aquinas took a 14-7 lead in the third set. Indiana Tech cut the lead to two at 23-21, but Aquinas would take the second set 25-22.
Aquinas took a 16-11 lead in the fourth set. Indiana Tech cut the lead to 17-16, but Aquinas extended their lead back to three at 23-20. Aquinas had match point at 24-21, but Indiana Tech used a 4-0 run to take a 25-24 lead. Indiana Tech would go on to take the fourth set 30-28.
Indiana Tech jumped out to a 7-1 lead in the fifth set. Aquinas answered with an 8-1 run to take a 9-8 lead. Aquinas once again had match point at 15-14, but back-to-back points by Indiana Tech gave the Warriors a 16-15 lead. The teams traded points, but it was Indiana Tech who took the fifth set 21-19 and the match 3-2.
Dylan Poore led Indiana Tech with 16 kills.
Zack Karns added 14 kills and a team-high eight blocks.
Logan Gieseke had 5.0 blocks, and
Ben Rosenow added 3.0 blocks.
Nolan Bosley had 55 assists and 15 digs to lead the team.
Taiki Peterson led Indiana Tech with three aces.
Indiana Tech moves to 16-7 on the year and 11-3 in WHAC play. The Warriors return to action on Wednesday at home against Mount Vernon Nazarene.
