LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. –
Garrett Rainey's walk-off home run in the 11
th inning gave Indiana Tech a 5-3 win over Georgetown on Saturday.
Georgetown scored first, taking a 2-0 lead in the top of the third. The Tigers extended their lead to 3-0 in the top of the sixth.
In the bottom of the sixth, a two-RBI single by
Brycen Hannah made it 3-2. An RBI single by
Jack Ferguson tied the game at 3-3.
The game remained 3-3 until the eleventh. With one out,
Garrett Rainey hit a walk-off two-run home run to give Indiana Tech a 5-3 victory.
Indiana Tech only had five hits in the contest, but the Warriors made them count as three of them drove in the team's five runs. Both
Brycen Hannah and
Garrett Rainey drove in two runs apiece.
Jacoby Roberson,
Jeremy Pudlik, and
Levi Laymon all stole a base.
Kail Baughman got the start, allowing two runs on one hit in five innings of work.
Dean Sommer threw 1.1 innings in relief, and
Kade Robinson followed with 2.1 scoreless innings.
Colton Leatherman picked up the win, also throwing 2.1 scoreless innings.
Indiana Tech moves to 9-4 on the year. The Warriors' game against No. 2 Georgia Gwinnett is now scheduled for Monday, March 9 at 3:00 PM.
