No. 22 Indiana Tech Gets Back on Track with Doubleheader Sweep of Cornerstone

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Indiana Tech baseball team got back in the win column on Saturday, sweeping Cornerstone in a doubleheader. The Warriors took game one 18-5 in seven innings and game two 12-1 in seven innings.
 
Indiana Tech scored first in game one when Garrett Rainey connected on a two-run home run in the top of the first to put the Warriors up 2-0.
 
An RBI single by Derek Ruiz in the second put Tech ahead 3-0. Bases loaded walks to Jack Ferguson, Ben Hammond, and Dane Richards gave Tech a 6-0 lead. Quinn Seefeldt was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to give the Warriors a 7-0 edge. An RBI single by Keelan Dunkle made it 8-0.
 
Cornerstone scored five runs in the third to make it 8-5.
 
A solo home run by Keelan Dunkle in the fifth put Tech ahead 9-5. A run came around to score on a wild pitch to make it 10-5, and a two-RBI single by Brycen Hannah made it 12-5. An RBI single by Quinn Seefeldt made it 13-5 Warriors.
 
A sacrifice fly by Garrett Rainey put Tech ahead 14-5 in the sixth. Quinn Seefeldt delivered an RBI single in the seventh to extend the lead to 15-5, and a bases loaded walk to Jacoby Roberson made it 16-5. An RBI single by Derek Ruiz made it 17-5, and Logan Rybarczyk was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to make it 18-5, which would be the final score.
 
Derek Ruiz and Keelan Dunkle both had three hits to lead the team. Garrett Rainey had a team-high three RBI.
 
Noah Redmon got the start and the win, allowing five runs in 5.2 innings while striking out seven. Kaden Plank threw 1.1 scoreless innings in relief to close the game.
 
A two-RBI double by Brycen Hannah in the top of the first of game two made it 2-0 Indiana Tech. Cornerstone answered with a run of their own in the first to make it 2-1.
 
A bases loaded walk to Brycen Hannah in the third put Tech ahead 3-1. RBIs by Ben Hammond and Dane Richards made it 5-1 Tech, and another run would score on an error to make it 6-1. An RBI single by Quinn Seefeldt made it 7-1, and another error made it 8-1. An RBI single by Jack Ferguson gave Tech a 9-1 lead.
 
The game remained 9-1 until the seventh when Dane Richards delivered an RBI double to make it 10-1. Two more runs came around to score on an error to make it 12-1, which would be the final score.
 
Jorge Santana and Jack Ferguson led Indiana Tech with two hits apiece. Brycen Hannah had a team-high three RBI.
 
Austin Byford got the start and the win, allowing one run in five innings while striking out six. Dean Sommer threw two scoreless innings in relief to close the game.
 
Indiana Tech moves to 24-13 overall and 14-4 in WHAC play. The Warriors return to action on Sunday for a home doubleheader against Siena Heights.
