ROCHESTER, Mich. – The Indiana Tech baseball team swept UM-Dearborn in a doubleheader on Friday, taking game one 15-3 in seven innings and game two 4-0.
Indiana Tech scored first in game one. An RBI triple by
Garrett Rainey put the Warriors ahead 1-0. An RBI groundout by
Jack Ferguson made it 2-0, and a bases loaded walk to
Jorge Santana made it 3-0 Warriors.
UM-Dearborn scored two runs in the bottom of the first to make it 3-2.
A two-RBI double by
Garrett Rainey in the second put Indiana Tech ahead 5-2. An RBI single by
Jack Ferguson made it 6-2.
A two-RBI single by
Garrett Rainey in the third put Indiana Tech up 8-2.
An RBI single by
Derek Ruiz in the top of the fifth made it 9-2 Indiana Tech. A double steal made it 10-2, and a bases-clearing double by
Quinn Seefeldt put Indiana Tech ahead 13-2.
Indiana Tech scored another run in the sixth on a wild pitch to make it 14-2, and an RBI single by
Ben Hammond put Indiana Tech ahead 15-2.
Indiana Tech would take game one 15-3 in seven innings.
Garrett Rainey led Indiana Tech with three hits and five RBI, finishing a home run shy of the cycle. Indiana Tech had four extra base hits and five stolen bases in the win.
Noah Redmon got the win, allowing two earned runs in six innings while striking out 10.
Tad Dobek threw a scoreless inning to secure the win.
Indiana Tech took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first of game two on a sacrifice fly by
Jack Ferguson.
The score remained 1-0 until the fifth when
Keelan Dunkle delivered an RBI double to put Indiana Tech ahead 2-0. A sacrifice fly by
Garrett Rainey made it 3-0.
An RBI single by
Derek Ruiz in the seventh put Indiana Tech ahead 4-0, which would be the final score.
Austin Byford got the start and the win, allowing just three hits in six scoreless innings.
Kaden Plank followed with two scoreless innings, and
Colton Leatherman threw a scoreless ninth to secure the win.
Indiana Tech moves to 20-11 overall and 10-4 in WHAC play. The Warriors return to action on Monday for another doubleheader against UM-Dearborn.
