Warriors Split Two Matches in South Bend

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Indiana Tech women's volleyball team split two matches in South Bend on Saturday, falling to Grace in four sets before sweeping IU South Bend.
 
Set one in match one saw Grace jump out to a 9-4 lead to force an Indiana Tech timeout. Tech cut the lead to one at 9-8, but Grace answered to push the lead to six at 16-10. With Grace ahead 17-15, a 5-1 run put the Lancers ahead 22-16. Grace would take the first set 25-18.
 
Set two saw Indiana Tech take a 10-4 lead. Indiana Tech kept their foot on the pedal, extending their lead to double digits at 20-10 following a 5-0 run. Grace then used a 6-0 run to make it 20-16 and force an Indiana Tech timeout. Indiana Tech answered with back-to-back points to take a 22-16 lead, and the Warriors would go on to take the second set 25-18.
 
Indiana Tech led 6-1 in set three before a 7-1 run put Grace ahead 8-7. With Tech ahead 11-10, a 6-1 run put Grace ahead 16-12. Grace maintained a lead for the remainder of the set as the Lancers would take set three 25-20.
 
Grace led 12-6 early in set four before a 7-2 run brought Tech within one at 14-13. Grace then answered with a 6-1 run to take a 20-14 lead. Grace would go on to take the fourth set 25-19 and the match 3-1.
 
Lauren Snyder led Indiana Tech with 15 kills. Olivia Kracium added 10 kills and 4.0 blocks. Kristin Matlack led Tech with 35 assists, and Emiline Wood had a team-high 17 digs. Keira Hans, Gabby Roussey, and Emiline Wood each had two aces apiece.
 
Indiana Tech led 9-3 in set one against IU South Bend. IUSB cut the lead to one at 10-9, but an 8-3 run gave the Warriors an 18-12 lead. Indiana Tech would go on to take the first set 25-18.
 
IUSB jumped out to a 12-6 lead in set two. IUSB extended their lead to 17-8, forcing an Indiana Tech timeout. After the timeout, Tech used a 12-3 run to roar back and tie the set at 20-20. IUSB had set points at 24-23 and 25-24, but Tech answered both times. Tech scored the final three points of the set to complete the comeback and take set two 27-25.
 
The third set saw the teams tied at 10-10 before Tech used a 12-1 run, including five aces by Elizabeth Hudnall, to take a commanding 22-11 lead. Tech would take the third set 25-14 and the match 3-0.
 
Lauren Snyder led Indiana Tech with 16 kills, and Lauren Paska added 10. Olivia Kracium had four kills and a team-high 3.0 blocks. Kristin Matlack led Tech with 32 assists, and Karleigh Hutchins added a team-high eight digs. Elizabeth Hudnall had a team-high seven aces, which is the most by an Indiana Tech player in a single match since 2024.
 
Indiana Tech moves to 7-4 on the year. The Warriors return to action on Wednesday at IU East.
