Tech Women’s Volleyball Sweeps IU East on Wednesday

RICHMOND, Ind. – The Indiana Tech women's volleyball team swept IU East in a road contest on Wednesday.
 
Set one saw the teams trading points back and forth with Indiana Tech holding a narrow 11-8 lead. Indiana Tech maintained a slight lead until IU East tied the set at 20-20. Indiana Tech answered with a 4-0 run to take a 24-20 lead. IU East cut the lead to 24-22, but the Warriors used a kill by Lauren Snyder to take the set 25-22.
 
Indiana Tech opened the second set on a 6-1 run, but IU East fought back to take a 10-9 lead. The teams continued to trade points until Indiana Tech scored three straight to take a 19-15 lead. IU East followed with a 5-1 run to tie the set at 20-20, but another 3-0 run by Indiana Tech gave the Warriors a 23-20 lead. IU East cut the lead to 24-22, but Indiana Tech used another kill by Lauren Snyder to take the second set 25-22.
 
With IU East ahead 8-5, Indiana Tech used a 6-1 run to take an 11-9 lead. Indiana Tech extended their lead to five at 18-13, but IU East cut the lead back to two at 20-18. Indiana Tech then used a 5-1 run to take the third set 25-19 and the match 3-0.
 
Lauren Snyder led Indiana Tech with 16 kills, and Lauren Paska added nine. Kristin Matlack had a team-high 33 assists, and Emiline Wood led Tech with 13 digs. Hannah Teich and Kristin Matlack led Tech with 4.0 blocks, and Elizabeth Hudnall had a team-high two aces.
 
Indiana Tech moves to 8-4 on the year. The Warriors return to action this weekend when they host the Liz Lykowski Tournament on Sept. 4 and Sept. 5.
