FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech women's volleyball team kicked off conference play with a sweep of UNOH at home on Wednesday.
Indiana Tech jumped on UNOH early in set one, taking an 8-2 lead to force a timeout. The Warriors extended their lead to 14-4 to force a second UNOH timeout. Tech led by as many as 14 as they would go on to take the first set 25-13.
The second set was back-and-forth as Indiana Tech held a narrow 11-10 lead. A kill by
Lauren Paska sparked a 10-1 Warrior run and would extend the Tech advantage to 23-12. Indiana Tech would go on to take the second set 25-16.
Indiana Tech led 8-5 in set three before a 7-1 run gave UNOH a 12-9 lead. Indiana Tech fought back to tie the set at 14-14. Tied at 16-16, three straight points put Tech ahead 19-16, but a 4-0 run by UNOH put the Racers ahead 20-19. Indiana Tech responded with six straight points to take the set 25-20 and the match 3-0.
Lauren Snyder led Indiana Tech with 11 kills.
Lauren Paska had eight kills, and
Olivia Kracium added seven.
Hannah Teich led Tech with 3.0 blocks and two aces.
Kristin Matlack had a team-high 34 assists and two aces, and
Abby Lane led Tech with 18 digs.
Indiana Tech moves to 12-5 on the year and 1-0 in WHAC play. The Warriors return to action on Friday at Rochester Christian.
