ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. – The Indiana Tech women's volleyball team swept Rochester Christian on Friday to move to 2-0 in WHAC play on the season.
Indiana Tech opened the first set on a 9-0 run to force an early RCU timeout. Tech led by as many as 16 points as the Warriors would cruise to a 25-9 first set win.
Tech led 9-4 early in set two, but RCU fought back to cut the lead to two at 10-8. Tech then used a 5-0 run to extend their lead to 15-8 and force an RCU timeout. Indiana Tech would maintain the lead and go on to take the second set 25-16.
Indiana Tech continued their quick starts, taking a 9-2 lead in the third set. The Warriors maintained their lead, extending the advantage to as many as 11 at 22-11. RCU used a 6-1 run to cut the lead to 23-17, but a kill by
Lauren Paska and an ace by
Abby Lane gave Tech the 25-17 set win to secure the sweep.
Lauren Snyder led Indiana Tech with 11 kills.
Hannah Teich added eight kills and led Tech with 5.0 blocks.
Kristin Matlack had a team-high 32 assists, and
Abby Lane led Tech with 19 digs.
Elizabeth Hudnall had a team-high three aces.
Indiana Tech moves to 13-5 overall and 2-0 in WHAC play. The Warriors return to action on Saturday at Lawrence Tech.
