SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – The Indiana Tech women's volleyball team continued their hot streak in conference play with a sweep of Lawrence Tech on Saturday, their third straight sweep to open WHAC play.
Lawrence Tech led 10-9 in set one before a 4-1 run gave Indiana Tech a 13-11 lead. The set continued to be tightly contested as the score was tied at 13-13, 14-14, and 15-15. Indiana Tech scored back-to-back points to take a 17-15 lead to force an LTU timeout. Leading 17-16, the Warriors scored three straight points to extend their lead to 20-16 and force another timeout. Indiana Tech would go on to take the first set 25-18.
Indiana Tech led 7-4 in set two, forcing an early LTU timeout. Leading 9-7, the Warriors used an 8-1 run to extend their lead to 17-8. LTU cut the lead to five on two occasions but could not get any closer as Indiana Tech took the second set 25-19.
LTU led 11-10 in set three, but a 6-0 Indiana Tech run gave the Warriors a 16-11 lead. LTU cut the lead to two at 18-16, but a quick 3-1 run extended the Warrior lead to 21-17. LTU tied the set at 21-21, but back-to-back points put Indiana Tech ahead 23-21 to force an LTU timeout. The Blue Devils tied the set at 23-23, but a kill by
Lauren Paska and an ace by
Elizabeth Hudnall gave Indiana Tech a 25-23 third set win to secure the sweep.
Lauren Paska led Indiana Tech with 11 kills, and
Lauren Snyder added nine.
Olivia Kracium,
Hannah Teich, and
Katelynn Toft each had 2.0 blocks.
Kristin Matlack led Tech with 30 assists, and
Abby Lane had a team-high 12 digs.
Hannah Teich had a team-high four aces, and
Keira Hans added three.
Indiana Tech moves to 14-5 overall and 3-0 in WHAC play. The Warriors return to action on Wednesday for a home contest against Madonna.
