FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech women's volleyball team swept Madonna on Wednesday, their fourth straight 3-0 win to open WHAC play.
Indiana Tech jumped out to a 14-8 lead in the first set. Madonna fought back to cut the lead to two at 16-14, but a 4-1 run by Tech gave the Warriors a 20-15 lead and forced a Madonna timeout. Leading 21-17, Indiana Tech closed the set on a 4-1 run to take the first set 25-18.
The Warriors used a 7-1 run to open the second set, forcing an early Madonna timeout. Leading 9-4, Indiana Tech used a 10-3 run to extend their lead to 19-7. Indiana Tech would cruise to a 25-10 second set win.
With the third set tied at 8-8, a 4-0 run gave Tech a 12-8 lead. Madonna cut the lead to two at 12-10, but another 4-0 run gave Tech a 16-10 advantage. Madonna narrowed the deficit to three at 19-16, but Indiana Tech closed the set on a 6-2 run to win 25-18 and clinch the sweep.
Lauren Snyder led Indiana Tech with 12 kills.
Olivia Kracium added nine kills, and
Katelynn Toft had seven.
Hannah Teich led Tech with five aces and 2.0 blocks.
Kristin Matlack had 39 assists, and
Abby Lane had a team-high 15 digs.
Indiana Tech moves to 15-5 overall and 4-0 in WHAC play. The Warriors return to action on Saturday at UM-Dearborn.
