Game Recap: Women's Volleyball | | Logan Stephens

Tech Sweeps St. Francis (Ill.) and Grand View on Day One of Liz Lykowski Tournament

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech women's volleyball team swept St. Francis (Ill.) and Grand View on Day One of the Liz Lykowski Memorial Tournament on Friday.
 
Indiana Tech jumped out to an 11-2 lead in set one against St. Francis (Ill.) The Warriors extended their lead to double digits at 21-11 and would go on to take the first set 25-17.
 
With St. Francis ahead 9-8 in the second set, Indiana Tech used a 6-1 run to take a 14-10 lead and force a timeout. St. Francis fought back and took an 18-16 lead, but a 9-2 run by the Warriors gave Indiana Tech a 25-20 second set win.
 
Indiana Tech took a 9-3 lead in set three. The Warriors maintained a comfortable advantage for the remainder of the set as Indiana Tech took the third set 25-15 and the match 3-0.
 
Olivia Kracium and Elizabeth Hudnall led Tech with seven kills apiece. Kristin Matlack led the Warriors with 31 assists, and Emiline Wood led with nine digs. Katelynn Toft had a team-high 2.0 blocks, and the trio of Szofi Atjony, Hannah Teich, and Keira Hans each had two aces apiece.
 
With Indiana Tech ahead 12-11 in set one against Grand View, the Warriors used a 10-1 run to extend their lead to 22-12. Indiana Tech would take the first set 25-14.
 
Tech led 9-6 in set two, but Grand View used a 9-3 run to take a 15-12 lead. Grand View held a 19-17 advantage, but a 6-0 run swung the lead in Tech's favor at 23-19. Indiana Tech would go on to take the second set 25-21.
 
An early 9-2 run gave Indiana Tech a 13-7 lead in set three. Leading 13-9, Tech used a massive 11-1 run to take a commanding 24-11 lead. Indiana Tech would take the third set 25-13 and the match 3-0.

Lauren Paska and Lauren Snyder led Indiana Tech with 10 kills apiece. Hannah Teich had a team-high 5.0 blocks, and both Kristin Matlack and Katelynn Toft each added 4.0 blocks. Matlack also led Tech with 23 assists. Karleigh Hutchins led Tech with 12 digs and 4 aces.
 
Indiana Tech moves to 10-4 on the season. The Warriors return to action on Saturday for Day Two of the Liz Lykowski Memorial Tournament.
