FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Indiana Tech Rugby added another milestone to its young program history Saturday afternoon, earning its first Big Rivers Rugby Conference victory with a 22-7 win over Thomas More University at Shields Field.

The Warriors set the tone early with a physical defensive effort, turning away Thomas More pressure near the try line before beginning to find space in attack.

Dakota Faulkner put Tech on the board first with a penalty kick in the 14th minute. The Warriors then broke the match open midway through the half.

Drew Stauffer crossed for Tech's first try in the 25th minute, with Faulkner adding the conversion to make it 10-0. Five minutes later, Tristan Roberts finished another strong attacking sequence with a try of his own, and Faulkner was again good from the tee to give Indiana Tech a 17-0 halftime advantage.

The Saints applied pressure after the break and found their lone score in the 63rd minute, using a driving maul from a lineout inside the five-meter line to cut the lead to 17-7.

Indiana Tech stayed composed and closed the match on its terms. The Warriors continued to pressure Thomas More late, regained possession deep in Saints territory, and went back to their forwards. Max Brinker finished the drive with a try in the 75th minute, pushing the final margin to 22-7.

The victory marked Indiana Tech's first conference win as a member of the Big Rivers Rugby Conference and continued a strong opening stretch to the Warriors' second varsity 15s season.
