FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech women's volleyball team battled but ultimately fell to No. 9 Aquinas in four sets on Friday.
Aquinas began fast, taking a 13-7 lead in set one. Aquinas led by eight at 19-11, but a 6-2 run brought Indiana Tech back within four at 21-17. Indiana Tech cut the lead to three at 23-20, but Aquinas would escape with a 25-20 first set win.
Indiana Tech took an 8-5 lead in set two to force an early Aquinas timeout. Indiana Tech led by four at 15-11, but a 4-0 Aquinas run tied the set at 15-15. Indiana Tech used a 7-3 run to extend their advantage to four at 22-18. Aquinas cut the lead to one at 24-23, but a kill by
Lauren Paska gave Indiana Tech a 25-23 second set win.
Aquinas jumped out to a 9-3 lead in set three to force an early Indiana Tech timeout. Indiana Tech responded with a 6-2 run to cut the lead to two at 11-9. Aquinas used a 7-2 run to extend their lead to 19-12. A 7-2 run brought Indiana Tech within two at 21-19, but Aquinas would go on to take the third set 25-21.
Indiana Tech led 11-10 in set four, but a 5-0 run put Aquinas ahead 15-11. Indiana Tech fought back to tie the set at 18-18, but a 4-0 gave Aquinas a 22-18 lead. Aquinas would go on to take the fourth set 25-21 and the match 3-1.
Lauren Snyder led Indiana Tech with 16 kills, and
Hannah Teich added 11. Teich led Tech with 4.0 blocks and four aces.
Olivia Kracium also had 4.0 blocks to co-lead the team.
Kristin Matlack had 42 assists, and
Abby Lane led Tech with 16 digs.
Indiana Tech moves to 16-6 overall and 5-1 in WHAC play. The Warriors return to action on Saturday at home against (RV) Cornerstone.
