FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The #3 ranked Indiana Tech men's soccer team was back at home Thursday night for a matchup with (RV) Eastern Oregon University. It was a very competitive back and forth game that would finish all square with two goals apiece.
The Mountaineers, playing in their first match of the 2026 season, would start their season with a bang, scoring in the 7
th minute of the contest to take an early lead. In the 18
th minute, the Warriors would answer with a great shot from
Javier Lopez Medinaceli following a blocked free kick, scoring from the edge of the box. This would spark a strong run of play from the Warriors as they dominated the final 30 minutes of the first half. Tech would outshoot the Mountaineers 10-3, but the game remained 1-1 after 45 minutes. The Warriors would pick up where they left off in the second half with some brilliant play from junior
Zak El Hannach who controlled the midfield and the game for Tech throughout the 90 minutes. He would give the Warriors the lead in the 68
th minute, hitting a perfect strike from way outside the box, into the top right corner of the goal. However, Eastern Oregon would answer just four minutes later, scoring a header off of a corner kick to tie the game at two. Both teams threatened over the final 20 minutes of play with multiple chances to score, but the keepers would keep it all even as the game would end in a 2-2 draw.
Ryan Henry recorded the assist on the El Hannach goal, while
Alan Fleischer made five saves in goal for the Warriors.
The Warriors now sit at 3-1-1 this season and will host Carroll College on Sunday, September 6
th at 7pm at Warrior Athletic Field.
