The freshman from Benoni, South Africa had a history making November for the Warriors cross country program. In the month alone, she became a WHAC Champion, NAIA All-American, and broke the program record for the 6k. On November 7th, Nel would help the Warriors to a third place finish at the WHAC Championships by winning the race to claim WHAC Runner of the Year, WHAC Newcomer of the Year, and First Team All-Conference honors. She became just the third Indiana Tech runner across both programs to win the WHAC Championship, while also breaking her own school 6k record with a remarkable time of 21:09 in the process. Following that impressive performance, two weeks later Nel would finish 22nd overall in a field of 331 runners at the NAIA National Championships to become an All-American. She is the fifth women’s cross country runner in program history to earn All-American honors.
