FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- Each month throughout the academic year, the Indiana Tech athletic department honors one male and one female athlete that has excelled on the field and in the classroom, displaying "Warrior Pride" throughout the month. A pair of sophomores, men’s basketball’s Tanner Watkins and women’s track and field’s Brianna Woods, are the winners for the month of December.Â
Watkins led the team in scoring in the month, averaging 16.3 points, while collecting 12 rebounds, 17 assists, two steals and shooting 52.5 percent (31-for-59) from behind the arc in 35 minutes per game. The Lapel, Ind. native had three consecutive 25-plus point performances with a career-high 30 against Shawnee State followed by 27 in the Warriors biggest win of the season, a 93-86 defeat of No. 18 IU-East.
