Box Score FORT WAYNE, Ind.—The seventh-ranked Davenport women's soccer team got three goals from Lizzie Paul in a 4-0 victory over Indiana Tech (6-7-1, 1-4), Saturday at the Warrior Athletic Field. Paul scored twice in the first and once in the second to help the Panther improve to 12-1 overall and 5-0 in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play.

The Warriors came out with a lot of energy and had several opportunities but couldn't convert, something you must do to beat the seventh ranked team in the nation. Conversely, the Panthers were able to convert on their first chance as leading scorer Lizzie Paul netted the game's first goal. A free kick was won by the Panthers and Paul was able to settle the 50-50 ball in the box, beating the defense and placing the ball perfectly in the lower right corner, just out of the reach of Indiana Tech's goal keeper Jordan Roell.

Just three minutes later the Warriors defense cracked again as Paige Eli dribbled to ball down the far side, sending the ball toward the net from just inside the 18-yard box on the far boundary. Her strike again slipped just out of the reach of Roell for the 2-0 lead.

The Warriors kept the ball in the Panthers defensive half for the majority of the period, however, on the third corner kick of the game for DU; Paul was able to net her 15th goal of the year. Paul sent the ball in from the far corner and Roell miss the punch-out as the ball slipped inside the near-post for the 3-0 advantage.

At the break the Warriors trailed 3-0; despite outshooting the Panthers 9-4. DU did put all four of their shots on frame while Tech mustered just one on goal. Roell finished the half with one save while DU's keeper Michelle Marcus matched her stopping the lone shot on frame.

The Warriors had their best two chances of the game early in the second period as Natalie Zimmerman sent a touch pass to Tori Singstock in the box, but Marcus closed quickly and mothered the shot. Just minutes later Singstock sent a perfect pass to Jessica Zurcher who had just the goalie to beat but sent the ball high over the net.

It took 26 minutes for our first goal of the second half and it was off the foot of Paul who recorded the hat trick with a shot from 30 yards out that hit the near post and ricocheted into the goal for the 4-0 Panther lead.

For the game Tech outshot DU 15-12, but the Panthers held an 8-4 advantage in shots on frame. Each keeper made four saves in the contest and DU took seven corner kicks to just five for Tech.

The Warriors return to the pitch on Saturday, Oct. 19 with a 12:30 p.m. contest against Lawrence Tech in Southfield, Mich.
