Singstock Leads @INTechWSoccer to 2-1 Win Over Blue Devils

Box Score SOUTHFIELD, Mich. –Two second half goals by Tori Singstock were enough to give the Indiana Tech women's soccer team a 2-1 victory over the Blue Devils (6-7, 1-5) of Lawrence Tech on Saturday afternoon.

The Warriors (7-7-1, 2-4) had several chances in the first period, but couldn't convert as they tallied 15 shots including nine on frame in the period. LT goal keeper Heather Derstine and the blue Devils defense stood strong with Derstine stopping all nine shots she faced. The Orange and Black defense held LT to seven first half shots and just three on frame.

It was a much different second half as the teams combined for three second half goals. Singstock got things started at the 49:33 mark scoring an unassisted goal on a laser from the top of the 18-yard box just under the crossbar for the 1-0 lead.
The lead was short-lived as the Nicole Propst netted the equalizer for Lawrence tech when her blocked shot ricocheted off the defender and into the net for the 1-1 tie.

With just five and a half minutes to play, Singstock tallied the game-winner with another rocket from the top of the box, sneaking the ball inside the near post for the 2-1 winning margin.

For the game Indiana Tech outshot their opponent 26-11 including an impressive 16-5 margin in shots on frame. Derstine was impressive for the Blue Devils as she stopped 14 of the 16 shots she faced in the game while Jordan Roell recorded four saves for the Warriors.

The Warriors will return to the pitch on Wednesday, Oct. 23 for their final home contest of the 2013 season, a 7 p.m. match against Madonna.
