Field's Header Gives @INTechWSoccer 2-1 Victory Over Madonna in 2OT

Box Score FORT WAYNE, Ind.—A header by Alex Field in the 107th minute on a cross by Megan Perrey gave the Indiana Tech women's soccer team a 2-1, double overtime victory over Madonna on Wednesday night at Warrior Field. With the win the Warriors move into a tie for fifth in the WHAC with a 3-4 record, 8-7-1 overall.

The Crusaders (7-8-1, 3-4) struck first 15 minutes into the game as Katlyn Krysiak dribbled between two defenders and Tech's goal keeper Jordan Roell couldn't corral the shot as it hit off her hands and rolled into the net for the 1-0 lead.

It was a slow first half with less than ideal field conditions with a total of eight shots between the two teams, five for the Warriors and three for the Crusaders while Madonna put one shot on frame and Tech tallied two. Katrina Arnold made two saves for MU who also tallied five corner kicks to just one for the Warriors.

It was a slow moving second half until Tori Singstock dribbled into the box, and beat her defender but was taken down from behind and awarded a goal kick. She didn't miss her opportunity, netting the equalizer with her 16th goal of the season.

Despite a flurry of shots by both teams in the final 10 minutes of the second half, no one could capitalize on their chances sending us to overtime.

The Warriors dominated the first extra period, but couldn't find the back of the net leading us into a second overtime.

It was a tense second overtime, taking seven minutes until Field netted the game-winner with a header inside the far post on a cross from Perrey for the 2-1 win!
The Warriors return to the pitch on Saturday, Oct. 26 when they travel to Ann Arbor, Mich. for a 12:30 p.m. contest against Concordia.
