Box Score FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Despite having three players in double figures, the Indiana Tech men's basketball team lost its regular season finale to Concordia, 67-72 at the Schaefer Center on Saturday.

The loss drops the Warriors to 16-14 on the season and 11-11 in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play. Tech finishes in a tie for sixth-place in the WHAC and will receive the seventh seed in the conference tournament, just ahead of eighth-seeded Concordia who finishes the regular season 13-17 overall and 10-12 in WHAC play.

Things started well for Tech as Antwan Cathey won the tip and scored the game's first points on a layup just over a minute into the game, however, Concordia answered with an 18-13 run to take an eight-point, 18-10 lead with 9:35 to go in the half. Five points from senior Jeff Hoskins cut the lead to three and Cathey followed with two free throws to get to within one, 18-17. After the Cardinals stretched the lead back to six, the Warriors used a 7-0 run to take a lead of their own, 24-23 with 3:10 left in the period. The teams traded baskets down the stretch with Concordia sinking a layup with four seconds left to take a 30-27 halftime lead.

The Cardinals won inside, outscoring Tech 18-10 in the painted area and outrebounding them 16-15. The Orange and Black were able to force six turnovers and turn them into six points while only turning the ball over four times for two points in the half. Hoskins led the Warriors with 14 first half points while Jesse Schienke had 11 for the Cardinals.

The Cardinals went on a 16-3 run to open the second half and stretch the lead to 10, 43-33, but Tech kept fighting. The Warriors never gave up, using an 18-11 run of their own to get back within three on a pair of Hoskins free throws, 54-51. Every time Concordia made a run, Tech had an answer, but just couldn't sink the big shot for the lead. The Warriors got the lead back to one, 68-67, on a Rontray Chavis layup with 25 seconds left. After a timeout and a pair of John Schaeffer free throws put the visitors back ahead by three, the Warriors had a chance to tie but a turnover and two more Schaeffer free throws sealed the five-point, 72-67 loss.

The Warriors outrebounded Concordia 32-28 in the contest and held a 16-9 advantage in points off turnovers and a 7-4 margin in second-chance points despite being outscored 32-38 in the paint.

Tech finished the contest 21-for-56 (37.5%) from the field but were just 3-for-14 (21.4%) from three and 22-for-31 (71%) from the line while the Cardinals shot 57.8 percent (26-for-45) from the floor and were 8-for-16 (50%) from behind the arc and 12-for-19 (63.2%) from the charity stripe.

Hoskins finished with a game-high 25 points while Chavis scored 15 points and grabbed 14 rebounds. Arben Camaj added 10 points for the Warriors.

Schienke led the Cardinals with 15 points while three others scored in double figures for Concordia.

Tech will hit the road for the first round of the WHAC tournament on Wednesday, Feb. 26 as they head to Grand Rapids, Mich. for a showdown with ninth-ranked Davenport. Tip is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
