Box Score GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Despite a double-double off the bench from Rontray Chavis, the Indiana Tech Men's Basketball team fell to Aquinas in overtime, 77-72, on Monday at the Sturrus SFC.

Things got off to a slow start for the Warriors (14-10, 9-7) as Aquinas scored the first five points of the contest. Back-to-back jumpers by John Cooksey and Jeremy Wohltman gave Tech the lead, 8-7 at the 14:31 mark. The Saints (12-12, 9-7) and Warriors then traded baskets, and the lead, for the remainder of the half with Tech taking the largest lead in that time, five points, 23-18, with 6:46 left in the half. The Saints closed the half on an 11-5 run to take a one-point, 29-28 halftime lead.

The Warriors won inside, outscoring the Saints 12-8 in the paint while also holding a 6-2 advantage in second-chance points. Aquinas won the turnover battle, forcing Tech into nine mistakes and converting them into nine points, while Tech forced eight turnovers, leading to eight points. Thanks to Chavis' nine rebounds, the Orange and Black outrebounded the home team, 21-16. Jeff Hoskins led the Warriors with seven points while the Saints' Austin Semple led all scorers with 12 first half baskets.

Tech used a 17-4 run, seven from Hoskins, to begin the second half, stretching the lead to 12, 45-33, with 13:44 to play. After seeing the lead cut to six, Chavis hit two free throws and Hoskins hit a three to push the lead back to 10, 54-44 with 9:01 on the clock. The Saints then used a 13-4 run to cut the lead to one, 58-57, but a Nick Lewis three and a Chavis jumper and free throw extended the lead back to five, 64-59 with 1:16 to play. Joe Ferrici hit a jumper at 1:14 to cut the lead to three and after a missed free throw by Tech, Anthony Williams hit a three with 31 seconds left to tie the game at 64.

It was all the home team in the overtime period. Hoskins got the first points and a Cooksey jumper gave Tech another one-point advantage, 68-67, but a three and two free throws pushed the Aquinas lead to four, 72-68. The Orange and Black got to within one, at 73-72 on a Tanner Watkins three with 46 seconds to play, but didn't get any closer as the Saints hit all four free throws in the final seconds for the 77-72 victory.

Offensively, Tech was impressive, shooting 45.5 percent (30-for-66) from the field, 26.7 percent (4-for-15) from behind the arc, but finished just 8-for-17 (47.1%) from the line. Defensively, the Warriors struggled as the Saints shot 50 percent (28-for-56) from the floor including a 7-for-14 (50%) mark from three while also doing just enough at the charity stripe (14-for-25, 56%) to win. The Warriors outrebounded the Saints 40-26 in the contest, but it wasn't enough.

Hoskins finished with a team-high 18 points while Chavis and Lewis each added 13. Chavis also finished with a game-high 16 rebounds.

Semple led all scorers with 19 points while fourth other finished in double figures for the Saints.

The Warriors return to Kline Court on Wednesday, Feb. 5 when the host Marygrove for a 7:30 p.m. contest.
