Box Score CLERMONT, Fla. – The Indiana Tech softball team opened the National Training Center Spring Games with a pair of losses to St. Thomas (Fla.) at Hancock Park on Sunday. Tech fell 6-0 in game one and 8-3 in game two.

GAME 1 | TECH 0, STU 6
In the first game, the Warriors' offense was overmatched against Cristina Sacramento's pitching for the Bobcats (14-10). In five innings, Sacramento had six strike outs and only allowed the Warriors three hits.

Brenda Emerson finished the last two innings for the Bobcats, allowing one hit and had two strike outs.

The Bobcats scored three runs in the third, two in the fifth and two in the seventh while also committing an error. The Orange and Black were shut out while collecting four hits and committing three errors in their first game outside this season.

Juliaclare Plezbert led the offense for the Warriors (0-2) with three hits.

Alli Watson pitched 6 1/3 innings for the Tech and allowed seven runs, two earned, on 12 hits with Tori Simper also tossing 2/3 of an inning.

GAME 2 | TECH 3, STU 8
The Warriors got off to a great start in the second of the twin-bill as Bailey Dembinski led off with a double and advanced to third on a sacrifice from Katie Bird, which allowed her to score two batters later as Plezbert reached on an error. Unfortunately the hot bats for the Bobcats continued as Simper couldn't contain St. Thomas.

The Bobcats got a run in the first, three in the third, one in the fourth, two in the fifth and one more in the sixth, tallying 13 hits while committing two errors. The Warriors scored twice more, once each in the fourth and fifth, collecting seven hits while making three errors, but just couldn't match the Bobcats offense.

A one-out home run by Jessica Cotton in the fourth gave Tech their second run of the contest and cut the lead in half, 4-2. After STU scored again in the bottom of the inning, the Warriors answered as Bird duplicated Cotton's feat, homering in the fifth, and Tech's final tally of the contest.

Simper tossed 4 2/3 innings for Tech, allowing seven runs, six earned, on 12 hits while striking out four and walking none.

Rion Williams was the lone Warrior with two hits in the contest while Cotton, Bird and Plezbert each collected RBIs.

The Warriors return to the field Tuesday, Mar. 18 when they face Riverland Community College at 3 p.m. and Mount Vernon Nazarene at 5 p.m. Both games are scheduled to be played at the National Training Center.
