Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Indiana Tech softball team opened Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play against No. 25 Davenport on Saturday, suffering a sweep, 12-1 and 9-6 at Farmers Athletic Complex. The Warriors fall to 2-10 overall and 0-2 in conference play while the Panthers improve to 15-4 on the season and 2-0 in WHAC competition.

GAME 1 | TECH 1, DU 12 |
Things started off well for the Warriors and first-year Head Coach Jessica Harris, as Juliaclare Plezbert was hit by a pitch with two outs in the top of the first, advancing to second on a wild pitch before scoring on Jessica Cotton's single.

It was all Davenport after that as four consecutive hits to begin the bottom of the first tied the game and the Panthers added two more tallies in the second, five in the fifth and four in the fourth for the 12-1 win.

Tech got just one other hit in the contest as Sofia Johantgen singled in the fifth with two outs.

Emily Maves got the win, improving to 8-2 for the Panthers as she pitched all five innings. Alli Watson (0-2) took the loss for Tech, pitching 2 2/3 innings, allowing eight runs, just three earned, on seven hits while Jenevie Rivas allowed four runs on four hits in 1 1/3 innings of relief.

Johantgen and Cotton each finished 1-for-2 while Plezbert scored the lone Warriors run.

GAME 2 | TECH 6, DU 9 |

The Warriors bats came to life in the second game, tallying 11 hits, but five errors doomed Tech in the 9-6 loss.

Unlike in game one, the Panthers scored first, getting two runs on two, two-out hits and a Warrior error to take a 2-0 lead in the second inning. However, Tech got it all back and then some with a five run third inning, taking a 5-2 lead.

Kayla Feeney led off the inning with a double and she came around to score on Johantgen's one-out, RBI single, cutting the lead in half. Bailey Dembinski followed with a fielder's choice and then back-to-back singles by Plezbert and Cotton tied the game. Rivas then delivered the big hit for the Warriors, a three-run home run to left field for the 5-2 lead.
Davenport wasn't done at the plate though, as Karli Myers singled to lead off the bottom of the third and scored on KC Dunne's triple while an error and two more hits leading to three more Panther runs for a 6-5 lead. They added three more runs on two hits and two errors in the sixth to stretch the lead to four, 9-5.

Tech put together a rally in the seventh, after two quick outs, Cotton singled and Rivas doubled her home. Kelsey Kline followed with her second single of the game to put runners at the corners with two outs, but a fielder's choice ended the game.

Tori Simper (2-4) got the start for Tech and suffered the loss as she allowed nine runs, six earned, on 10 hits while striking out two over six innings. Her counterpart, Alyssa Eastman (6-1) got the win, allowing six runs on 11 hits with three strikeouts over seven innings.
Cotton, Rivas and Kline all recorded two hits with Rivas stealing the show with a game-high four RBIs while also scoring once.

The Warriors will return home on Wednesday, Apr. 2 when they host Northwestern Ohio for a 3 p.m. WHAC doubleheader at Havenhurst Park.
