Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 NEW HAVEN, Ind. – The Indiana Tech softball team won back-to-back games and swept a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference doubleheader for the first time since Apr. 7, 2013, defeating Northwestern Ohio, 11-7 and 7-3 at Havenhurst Park on Wednesday night.
The win propels the Warriors to 4-11 on the season and 2-2 in the WHAC while the Racers fall to 10-10 overall and 0-4 in conference play.

GAME ONE | TECH 11, UNOH 7 |

Tech made another bit of history in game one, smashing four home runs en route to the 11-7 victory, the most the team has ever hit in one game.

After Tori Simper (3-4) tossed a 1-2-3 inning in the top of the first, her only such inning in the contest, the Warriors offense went to work. Bailey Dembinski got the inning started, reaching on an error by the shortstop, before Juliaclare Plezbert made the Racers pay with a one-out, two-run home run to take the 2-0 lead.

Simper worked around a single and a hit-by-pitch in the second, allowing the offense to extend the lead. Patrice Suplicki led off the inning with the Warriors second home run of the contest to extend the lead to three before Simper reach on a single and Kayla Feeney followed with a two-run home run for the 5-0 lead. After back-to-back strikeouts, Plezbert and Jessica Cotton drew back-to-back walks, coming around to score on Jenevie Rivas' triple. Kelsey Kline then drew a walk and Suplicki registered her second hit and RBI of the inning, driving in Rivas with a two-out single.

Two singles and a double by Megan Pflum produced the first runs of the contest for the visitors, cutting the lead to six. Following a 1-2-3 bottom of the third, UNOH added another run on two hits in the top of the fourth to make the score 8-3.

Tech answered back in the bottom of the inning as Plezbert led off with a single and scored two batters later as Rivas homered to left field to push the lead to seven, 10-3.

Things got interesting in the fifth as Camille Martin singled to lead off the frame and Kelly Merkle followed with a single, but was called out due to an improper lineup card. Casey Yingst then singled, but Heather Pahoresky, who ran for Martin, was tagged out at second after overrunning the bag. It looked like Simper would escape the inning unharmed, however, a double and a bunt single scored two runs to cut the lead in half, 10-5.

Tech added their 11th run of the contest in the bottom of the fifth as Feeney singled to lead off the inning, advancing to second on a sacrifice and scoring on Dembinski's single.
A two-out single and back-to-back doubles in the sixth gave the Racers their sixth and seventh runs of the game, but Simper ended the threat with a flyout and allowed just one hit in the seventh to seal her third win of the season.

Simper tossed a complete game, allowing seven runs on 14 hits while striking out two.
At the plate, Suplicki led all hitters with three hits, while scoring once and driving in two. Rivas finished with two hits, four RBIs and two runs scored while Plezbert added three runs and two RBIs.

GAME TWO | TECH 7, UNOH 3 |

Rivas got the start in game two and the sophomore got her first win of the season, pitching all seven innings and allowing just three runs on 11 hits while striking out two and walking one.

Tech won the contest 7-3 despite being outhit 11-6 in the game. UNOH got things started in the top of the first as a pair of singles, a sacrifice bunt and another single plated two runs for the early lead.

After Rivas escaped a bases loaded, one-out jam, the Warriors offense got going as she helped herself with an RBI double, driving in Cotton who led off with a walk. Hannah Foltz then delivered her fourth hit of 2014, scoring Rivas to tie the score.

Tech then broke the game open with a crooked number in the bottom of the third. Dembinski got things going with a one-out single, advancing to third on an error by the centerfielder, scoring on Plezbert's double to left field. Cotton followed with an RBI double of her own and a walk to Rivas ended the day for Racers starter, Yingst. Back-to-back walks plated another Tech run and Feeney then singled with two outs to score the fifth run of the inning, pushing the lead to five, 7-2.

UNOH added their final tally with two hits in the seventh, but it was a little too late for the Racers as Rivas took the win, 7-3. UNOH stranded 10 runners on base in the loss thanks to Rivas' pitching.

Six different Warriors tallied a hit in the second game while Rivas finished 1-for-1 with two runs scored and an RBI.

Tech returns to Havenhurst Park on Friday, Apr. 5 as they host Siena Heights for a WHAC doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
