NEW HAVEN, Ind. – The Indiana Tech softball team ended the regular-season on a high note, winning game two of their weekend series with Aquinas to earn a split of the twin-bill. The Saints (16-17, 7-9) took game one, 6-1, but the Warriors (7-22, 5-13) won the second game 3-2 in nine innings.

GAME ONE | IT 1, AQ 6

In the first game of the day, the Saints scored six runs on 10 hits and two Tech errors while the home team plated just a single run on a pair of hits, both coming from starting pitcher Taylor Craven.

Craven (0-4) allowed five runs, three earned, on seven hits over 3 1/3 innings, but the offense didn't back her up.

Aquinas scored first, plating three runs in the third and two more in the fourth for an early 5-0 lead. In the home half of the fourth the Orange and Black finally got on the board with a two-out RBI single from Craven, scoring Jessica Cotton who led off the inning with a hit-by-pitch.

Becca Shineldecker (9-5) got the win with a complete-game two hitter.

GAME 2 | IT 3, AQ 2 (9)

Bailey Dembinski was the hero in the regular season finale as she singled with the bases loaded and one out to score Jenevie Rivas, who reached via an error to lead off the inning, for the win.

Both teams scored a single run in the first inning, but it could've been more.

The Saints used three consecutive one-out singles to plate the game's first run, but Tori Simper (5-7) induced a pop up and a groundout to strand two runners. In the bottom of the inning, it looked as though it would be a quick start for Saints starter Caitlyn Hensel (6-9) as she record two quick outs, but Craven singled and Cotton doubled her home to tie the score.

Neither offense really got much going until the bottom of the fifth when Craven again delivered with a two-out double, plating Dembinski for the 2-1 lead. Aquinas answered back in the sixth as a two-out double for the visitors tied the score.

It remained all square until the ninth where Rivas reached on an error and then three consecutive, one-out singles won the contest, 3-2.

Simper tossed a complete game, allowing just two runs while scattering 12 hits over nine innings, striking out two and walking none.

Craven finished the day 4-for-6 with two RBIs and a run scored. Patrice Suplicki recorded three hits in the season-finale to lead the team while three others had two hits in the contest.
