Box Score SYLVANIA, Ohio – The Indiana Tech softball team defeated Lourdes, 13-12, in the first game of a doubleheader at Pacersetter Park, while the second game of the twin bill was postponed to Thursday due to rain.
The Warriors, who were the home team per conference rules on venue changes, jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first after a two-out RBI single from
Amanda Shonka, but the Gray Wolves responded in the top of the second with four runs of their own. Four straight hits for Lourdes in the fourth advanced their lead to 6-3, but an eight-run fifth gave the Orange and Black an 11-7 lead, with
Kelsey Reinhardt breaking the 7-7 tie with a grand slam to give Tech the lead back.
The Gray Wolves would not go down easily though, as they scored five runs in the top of the seventh off four hits and an error, but a two-out RBI fielder's choice from
Madison Ohnesorge allowed
Brianna Glass to score and knot the game up at 12-12 to send the game into extra innings.
Ali LeNoue led off the bottom of the eighth on an error and came around to score two batters later as
Caitlyn Walter knocked her in with a sacrifice fly to center as the Warriors increased their winning streak to three games.
Emily Martin went 2-2 at the plate with three RBI's and a run while Shonka was 3-5 with a run and a pair of RBI's and picked up the win after going the full eight innings in the circle.
