Box Score 2 FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The No. 6-ranked Indiana Tech women's ice hockey team earned a split this past weekend with the No. 9-ranked Maryville Saints.
Both contests were held at the SportONE/Parkview Icehouse, with the hosts taking the first matchup on Friday night, 3-2.
Ashley Episcopo had two goals in the contest,
Izzy Pettem-Shand had the assist on each of them, along with
Dakota Bowler.
Georgia Kusbel scored her eigth of the season, assisted by
Arina Jusczak. The Warriors scored one goal in each period, while the Saints managed to score two goals in the first period.
Mackenzie Addley made 15 saves on the night.
On night two, the fans got to see another great contest. The Warriors started off red-hot, with
Dakota Bowler scoring her team-leading 15th goal on the season. Shortly after, it was
Megan Yakiwchuk, who struck twice in the first and second periods, making it a 3-0 contest in favor of Tech. The Saints would finally net their first goal with just over 3 minutes to play in the 2nd period, making it 3-1 heading into the final period. The Saints came out and immediately made it interesting again, scoring on another power-play to make it 3-2. Just under six-minutes in, Pettem-Shand would come up clutch, netting a goal off of a
Lauren Younker assist to make it a 4-2 contest. But the Saints would respond, big-time. Maryville's Sydney Poisson, the leading goal scorer in the ACHA W1, would net two goals, and her teammates would score twice as well, one of them being the empty-netter to seal the fate of the Warriors, with the Saints winning 6-4.
Mackenzie Addley would have 30 saves on the night.
Indiana Tech will be ready to rise to the challenge this weekend, as they have a series with the No. 2-ranked Adrian College Bulldogs. The home contest will be on Saturday night at 7:00 PM at the SportONE/Parkview Icehouse.
