Luczko Named WHAC Rocket League Player of the Year, Warriors Finish Third in WHAC Tournament

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Indiana Tech Esports team traveled to Adrian, Michigan on Saturday for the WHAC Rocket League Tournament hosted by Siena Heights University.

The WHAC Tournament is a six-team double elimination tournament with a winner's and a loser's bracket. The top four teams during the regular season earned a spot in the final tournament field, while the other eight teams competed in the single elimination play-in tournament on Tuesday with Cleary and Lawrence Tech being the two teams to make it through. They would join top seeded Rochester Christian, Siena Heights, Indiana Tech, and Saint Xavier in the final bracket. Every team would begin in the winner's bracket, while a loss will drop a team into the loser's bracket and a second loss will eliminate that team from the tournament.

The Warriors entered the tournament as the #3 seed after a strong regular season saw them go 9-2 in conference play. The Warriors would get a first-round matchup with #6 seed Lawrence Tech, easily defeating the Blue Devils 3-0. In the second round, the Warriors would battle host and #2 seed Siena Heights, who along with Rochester Christian were the only two teams to stop the Warriors in the regular season. Ultimately, the Saints would get the best of the Orange & Black for a second time defeating Tech 3-1 and dropping them to the loser's bracket.

The Warriors would win their first-round matchup in the loser's bracket, taking down #4 seed Saint Xavier 3-0. Tech would then roll over Lawrence Tech 3-0 for a second time to move onto the final of the loser's bracket. However, they would have to face Siena Heights once again after the Saints fell to Rochester Christian in the semifinals. Tech would fight until the end, forcing a winner take all battle in the best of seven series, but would fall short in the end losing three games to four to finish in third place at the tournament. Rochester Christian would go on to win the championship over Siena Heights.

The Warriors would earn two players on the WHAC First Team All-Conference in Miller Hoeksema (Miller) and KC Luczko (Bluey), while Luczko would be named the WHAC Rocket League Player of the Year.

Indiana Tech wraps up their fall Rocket League season with an overall record of 12-4 and a third-place finish in the WHAC Tournament. The Warriors will now prepare for their spring League of Legends, Overwatch, and Valorant seasons.
