Warriors Chosen First and Third in 2026 Spring Esports WHAC Preseason Polls

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Indiana Tech Esports team will compete in League of Legends and Valorant during the 2026 spring season. The Warriors were chosen to be crowned champions for League of Legends and picked to finish third in Valorant as the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) released the Coaches Polls for both titles.

For League of Legends, Indiana Tech received nine points in this year's preseason coaches' poll and received all three first place votes. The Warriors went a perfect 7-0 last season before falling to No. 2 seed Rochester Christian in the WHAC Tournament finals 2-3. Tech is projected to win the league and comes in three points ahead of Siena Heights and six points ahead of Bethel in this year's preseason poll.

In Valorant, Tech received 48 points in the preseason poll after going 4-5 last season, finishing fifth in the regular season. At the WHAC Tournament, Tech would go 3-0 in the play-in matches before falling to No. 4 seed Cleary and then defeating No. 6 seed Saint Xavier 2-1 to finish fifth. This season, the Warriors are projected to finish third behind Lawrence Tech (62 points) and Siena Heights (58 points). The Blue Devils received six first place votes and the Saints received the other two. Indiana Tech is 12 points ahead of projected fourth place finisher, Cleary.

Overall, Indiana Tech finished second in the esports final standings last season, five points behind WHAC Champion Siena Heights. The Warriors have been perfect through the fall half of the season, going 9-0 in Rocket League and 6-0 in Overwatch 2 during the regular season before winning both fall title WHAC Tournaments as well, putting themselves in a great position for the overall WHAC crown this season.

The WHAC Preseason Poll is voted on by the league's head coaches. Points are tabulated by ranking the teams from top to bottom with the team a coach ranks first earning the most points, then the second most points to the team a coach ranks second, and so on with the final ranked team earning one point. The number of first-place votes indicates the number of coaches who ranked that team as the No. 1 team in the WHAC.
