SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Indiana Tech Esports team went an hour and a half northwest to South Bend, Indiana for the WHAC Rocket League Tournament hosted by Bethel University this past weekend.
The WHAC Tournament is a six-team double elimination tournament with a winner's and a loser's bracket. The top two teams during the regular season earned a bye, while the other four teams competed in the first round. Every team would start in the winner's bracket, while a loss sent them into the loser's bracket and a second loss will eliminate that team from the tournament. The Warriors entered the tournament as the #1 seed and favorites to win it all after an undefeated regular season. Rochester Christian was the #2 seed, followed by Siena Heights, Saint Xavier, the hosts Bethel, and Lawrence Tech.
After a first-round bye, the Warriors would meet #4 Saint Xavier in the second round and easily take down the Cougars 3-0 to advance to the semifinals. In a battle between the two remaining undefeated teams, Tech would take down #2 Rochester Christian 4-2 on Friday evening to end day one. Rochester Christian would eliminate #3 Siena Heights on Saturday afternoon, setting up a rematch with the Warriors in the championship game. The Orange & Black would handle business again with a clean 4-0 sweep to claim the title.
The Warriors would clean up in the WHAC Awards with three players earning WHAC First Team All-Conference honors.
Enzo Morin (Reshiram) was named the WHAC Rocket League Player of the Year, while
KC Luczko (Bluey) and
Adam Jackson (Velocity) joined Morin on the first team.
Indiana Tech wraps up their fall Rocket League season with a perfect 10-0 overall record and a WHAC Tournament Championship. The Warriors will now prepare for their spring League of Legends and Valorant seasons.
