Warriors Win in Straight Sets at Defiance

DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Indiana Tech women's volleyball team hit the road on Friday evening for a conference contest in Defiance, Ohio. While in Defiance, the Warriors would get revenge against the Yellow Jackets. After falling 1-3 in their first meeting of the season, the Warriors would come away with a 3-0 win in their second match.

Tech got off to a hot start to open the match as they would jump to an early lead in the first set. After leading 11-7, the Warriors would string together six straight points to stretch their advantage to 10 points. From there, the Warriors would go on to comfortably take the opening set 25-14. In set two, the two squads matched each other stride for stride all the way up to the 20-20 point. Closing the set, the Warriors would inch in front to go up 2-0 in the match with a set score of 25-22. Again, in the third set, there was little to separate the sides. The Warriors would create some separation as a kill from Jaycee Strawsma would ignite a 5-0 run to give the Warriors a 22-16 lead. The hosts would battle back, cutting the lead to 23-22, but back-to-back kills from Lauren Snyder would put the match on ice as Tech would take the third set 25-22.

Snyder would lead the Warriors' attack with 14 kills. Kristin Matlack led the side with two service aces. Hannah Teich led the Warriors' front-line defensive efforts with four blocks. Isabella Assaley tallied 16 assists, while Emiline Wood added 19 digs.

The Warriors move to 15-9 on the season and sit at 8-4 in conference play. Tech will return home for their next contest on Wednesday, October 15, as they host Northwestern Ohio for a 7:00 p.m. start.
